Yosemite National Park is a cyclists paradise. Bike paths, terrific views, and a granite ditch almost 3,000 feet deep. You can bicycle in Yosemite National Park year round, however spring and fall can bring the fewest crowds and best temperatures. If cycling in the winter, Yosemite Valley can receive snow – and it can be chilly with the sun not reaching parts of the south side. Summer can also be a great time to visit the park, but be ready for extreme traffic in Yosemite Valley.
Toulumne Meadows offers a refreshing break from the valley crowds in the summer and is normally open in late spring (depending on the winter snow pack). Highway 120 (the road to Toulumne) typically closes in November or December. The Park Service normally opens up the road to Toulumne to bicyclists before it is open to cars. While you may have to deal with Park Service vehicles, this can often be an extremely rewarding experience – getting to see a part of the park that is not yet open and is not as visited as the rest of the park.
